FAQ’s About FL Tint Laws:
Will my vehicle pass inspection with illegal tint?
While in FL we do not have annual inspections, some states may require a vehicle to get inspected for roadworthiness. If this is the case, Tint Monkeys always defers back to the tint laws in the state the vehicle was registered in.
Can i get colored and or mirror tint?
Simple answer, no! The state of Florida does not allow any reflective or colored tint, as it could be dangerous to other motorists. We at Tint Monkeys also recommend against it for road cars, as it is common to have films like this lose their color and fail in as little as 1 year.
Why can’t I have 28% tint installed?
No Manufacturer makes a 28%, and that’s for good reason! When the law says that your tint must not be darker than 28%, they actually mean your tint+window cannot exceed that darkness. Because glass is not perfectly clear, once installed, your window can meter as low as 5% darker than the film! This is why to stay legal in FL, we install 35% on the front windows, and 20% on the backs.
